Christian Life Commission
Director: Doug Austin

Your Christian Life Commission (CLC) is an agency of the Missouri Baptist Convention serving as its public policy arm, and wants to help you make a difference in Missouri. CLC is dedicated to addressing social, moral, and ethical concerns, with particular attention to their impact on American families and their faith. Driven by the Biblical mandate to be the salt and light of the world, the CLC seeks to assist Missouri Baptists by:

  • Being a voice for the passage of sensible, value oriented legislation, as well as protecting the rights of all citizens as they are guaranteed in the Constitution.
  • Being an educator for churches and individuals on the current social issues of the day. These issues include the sanctity of human life, protecting religious liberty, restoring the biblical family, fighting substance abuse, and eliminating the devastating effects of gambling, pornography, and wold hunger.
  • Being a friend to those who feel overwhelmed by all that Christian citizenship demands or need biblical insight on dealing with current cultural struggles. We can help organize, promote, and recruit other believers in your battle against the contemporary culture.

CLC has both local and state assistance available. We believe the church is most effective when it is most unified.

In 1959 a church in Easyville, MO, west of Monett, MO held a revival that had such large crowds they had to get a tent. Then in another week they had to get another tent. They were unable to get a larger tent so they raised up the sides and people sat on the outside. It lasted four months and took seven preachers to keep it going. Hundreds were saved. People came from Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas.

Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron said, "Then with manipulative music and appeals to the emotions rather than the will and conscience, we have opened wide our doors to the world and its sins. Today in the modern contemporary church they are afraid to offend anyone, so they don't have an alter call.

In fact, churches are full of lost members. We tell them to accept Jesus for a life of love, great times, etc. In reality it's a life of trials, suffering, and temptation but the outcome is everlasting life. The last makes it all worthwhile. Back then they knew what sin was, the law of God reveals sin. We have made the issue one of happiness rather than righteousness.
