Church Revitalization and Strengthening

Renovate SEMO Team Leader: Mike Parry

Like all living organisms, every church is either growing or dying.  The demands of weekly ministry often leaves little to no time to engage in assessing and developing new strategies and plans to ensure continued growth. This is why we believe that it is helpful to invite other leaders to assist in this process.  We currently have people trained in a variety of  assessment tools which can give you a good snapshot of where the church is at, identify areas that would benefit from focused attention, and even develop plans for bringing about desired change in some of those areas. Our team is a part of the Resound Network of the Missouri Baptist Convention. Additionally, several leaders in our association have been trained to lead the Bible Training Center for Pastors/Leaders.  There are currently groups involved in this leadership training in Fruitland and South Cape.

The Malphurs Group has a new podcast for revitalization:  Church Revitalization Podcast

Bob Bickford, Associate Director, Replant of North American Mission Board, and Jimbo Stewart, Replant Pastor in Jacksonville FL, are beginning a new weekly podcast on Sept 23, 2019 called Replant bootcamp.  They are specifically addressing the on the ground challenges faced by those who are Replanting churches in years 1-5.  It features episodes built around questions submitted by Replanters and will feature some special guests along the way who will join them to answer those questions.  They are also including a regular episode featuring “stupid stuff we did and survived.”

A lot of Replant and Revitalization Podcasts focus on a 60K feet view of the work, they are working hard to focus on the boots on the ground nitty gritty grind of Replanting normative sized congregations.  They are also hoping to feature younger voices,  as they believe these voices are sometimes absent yet they are important in communicating the truths of replanting from their perspectives. The podcast can be found at:
